KPU Blitar District Holds Socialization on Independent Candidate Nomination for 2024 Regent and Vice Regent Elections



The Blitar District General Election Commission (KPU) organized a Socialization on the Nomination Registration of Independent Candidate Pairs for the regent and vice regent elections in Blitar in 2024. The event took place at the Cafe Hall in Kampung Coklat, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and was attended by participants from political parties, social organizations, and relevant government agencies.


Ibrahim Mukti, SH, the Commissioner of KPU in the technical field, conveyed that independent candidates could run for regent and vice regent with the condition of being able to gather support from 7.5% of the total number of Permanent Voter List (DPT), which amounts to 71,766 for Blitar District.


The socialization event aimed to inform potential candidates about the procedures and requirements for running as independent candidates in the upcoming elections. It provided a platform for participants to understand the intricacies of the nomination process and the legal framework governing independent candidacy.


During the event, Ibrahim Mukti emphasized the significance of independent candidates in promoting diversity and representation in local governance.
